Switzerland's tourism concentrates around a small number of alpine regions connected by what is widely regarded as Europe's most scenic rail network. Zermatt, a car-free village, sits beneath the Matterhorn, one of the most photographed peaks in the world; nearby, the Jungfraujoch — marketed as the 'Top of Europe' — is reached by cogwheel train through tunnels cut into the Eiger and Mönch. Interlaken, between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz, serves as the gateway to the Jungfrau region, while Lucerne, on Lake Lucerne, retains its wooden Chapel Bridge (Kapellbrücke) at the old town's edge. Switzerland's combination of dense scenic density, punctual trains, and compact geography means clients often see more alpine scenery per day here than almost anywhere else in Europe — at a correspondingly higher cost.
